emacs-snapshot Debian packages

These packages are not maintained anymore

I don't use these packages anymore so I don't maintain them anymore. Please use Ganneff new repository. -- Julien Danjou, 16th June 2014

Instructions

Sources are hosted in the emacs-snapshot Git repository. This page, this repository set-up and the emacs-snapshot sources are maintained by Julien Danjou.

If you are looking for the Ubuntu packages, Damien Cassou now maintains an emacs-snapshot PPA.

Execute the following command to add the APT key of these repositories to your APT keyring:

        wget -q -O - http://emacs.naquadah.org/key.gpg | sudo apt-key add -

Bugs

Keep in mind that these packages provide a snapshot version of the current Emacs development tree. They may contain any number of bugs, they may format your fridge or even accidently start vi.

Any such features are yours, no guarantee is given, it is your own adventure if you use these packages!

The packages here are different enough to those directly in Debian that the Debian BTS is not the right place to report bugs, unless you can reproduce it with packages directly from Debian. If you want to report a bug, please check the following list how to proceed.

What is broken?

Emacs directly
If Emacs directly is broken then you can either wait until the next snapshot, hoping that someone else reports this bug and it gets fixed - or you can report the bug directly to the Emacs developers. Please see Upstreams page for more information on how to do so.
An addon package locally installed?
Please remove it from your load-path and retry. Check upstream if they provide a newer version which may have changes to work with newer Emacs versions.
An addon package installed from Debian?
Please uninstall it and retry. You may want to check the Backports archive if they provide a newer version, otherwise you may have to install a newer upstream version directly.
The packaging of emacs-snapshot
If you found a bug in the packaging of emacs-snapshot, please send a report directly to Julien Danjou.
